João Morgado is a Portuguese architectural photographer based in Porto, specializing in capturing the nuance and light of built environments with a strong sense of form, materiality, and context. He studied architecture (MSc, ISCTE, Lisbon) and transitioned into architectural photography around 2007.
His work has been recognized internationally—he won the ARCAID Images Architecture Photography Award in 2014 in the Sense of Place category for his aerial photo of Álvaro Siza Vieira’s Piscinas das Marés, and has been published in numerous leading design and architecture magazines. His portfolio spans residential, public, and institutional projects in Portugal and abroad, often incorporating drone and aerial perspectives alongside more traditional photography.
