The VB house is situated in the heart of Florence, specifically in the Santa Croce neighborhood. The project focuses on optimizing the internal layout to accommodate its two youthful owners as well as a portion of their professional activities. The design prioritizes functionality, comfort, and aesthetic appeal, ensuring that the space serves both as a cozy sanctuary and a productive workspace tailored to the owners’ dynamic lifestyle.
The apartment is predominantly situated on a single level, complemented by an additional space on an elevated level, designated as a sitting room and guest room. At the heart of the central distribution area, a distinctive wooden volume is seamlessly integrated, serving as a multifunctional partition that delineates and filters the transition between the entrance and the newly configured kitchen area. This architectural element not only adds visual interest but also enhances the spatial organization and functionality of the living environment, creating a harmonious balance between aesthetics and practicality.
The living area opens onto a large, bright room, from which a single-flight staircase leads up to the upper floor. An arched opening seems to be the threshold to the sleeping area, consisting of a first space equipped as an office, with double workstations, and a master bedroom.
The interior was built following a neutral, minimalist taste. White plastered surfaces and oak parquet are used throughout the entire house, like an interior of “Franciscan” simplicity. Wood is also employed in the volume-filter, custom designed by our studio, and as a covering for the treads of the staircase in the living room.
