In the capital city of Kazakhstan, a modern apartment with neoclassical touches stands in a residential complex surrounded by two beautiful parks. This apartment’s uniqueness lies in its architectural approach, balance, and love for combining natural materials and textures.
The Client’s Vision
The apartment owner approached the interior design studio after experiencing déjà vu. She discovered her neighbor’s apartment was a mirror copy of her own, with identical layouts, paintings, and other elements. The developer of this residential complex rents out apartments with standard finishes, furniture, and appliances. Therefore, the design studio’s main task was to express the individuality of the owners – a married couple with a child – through the interior.
Initially, the family wanted a classic interior. However, during discussions, they shifted towards a modern interior with neoclassical elements. The apartment’s layout and geometry reflect contemporary styles, but classic elements are subtly integrated to meet the owners’ preferences.
Thoughtful Space Reorganization
The apartment’s layout worked well from the start, so it only needed a gentle reorganization. The design team removed some rooms that disrupted the overall concept. Instead, they added a technical kitchen and internal storage systems. To solve the lack of interacting zones, they created a circular movement within the apartment space.
Harmonious Design and Materials
Light shades dominate the central area, bedroom, and the owners’ bathroom. Natural materials and textures, along with their combinations, feature prominently. Veneered panels on the walls serve as the main element of visual zoning. In the office, this solution extends to storage structures and the desktop. Individual objects emphasize the overall atmosphere of harmony and balance.
Unique Children’s Bedroom
The children’s bedroom stands out from the general design. The clients’ ten-year-old son enjoys niches and hiding places for playing. Therefore, the design includes a bunk bed with a net and tatami mats. They also created a niche in the wall for convenient reading.
In conclusion, this modern apartment with neoclassical touches in Astana blends contemporary design with classic elements. The thoughtful reorganization and careful selection of materials create a harmonious and balanced living space, reflecting the unique personalities and preferences of its owners.
