Caiubí Apartment by architect Juliana Miranda transforms a 170 m² São Paulo flat into a light‑filled retreat that celebrates openness, neutral tones, and a refreshing touch of green. What began as a simple bathroom update organically evolved into a full renovation of the social areas—connecting living, dining, and balcony into one harmonious whole.
Opening Up and Integrating Indoor–Outdoor Spaces
First, Miranda removed the sliding doors and leveled the balcony floor to eliminate barriers between inside and out. As a result, the living and dining rooms now flow effortlessly onto the balcony, creating a single, expansive space. Moreover, custom millwork and carefully chosen furniture reinforce this continuity, offering generous seating and storage without cluttering the sightlines.
Warmth, Texture, and a Decorative Muxarabi Ceiling
Next, the entrance hall greets visitors with a distinct sense of craftsmanship. Here, a warm repaint and a decorative muxarabi ceiling introduce pattern and texture. Furthermore, wooden finishes throughout the social areas balance the fresh gray palette—echoing the homeowners’ favorite hue—and add a welcoming warmth that complements the new green accents.
A Green Palette for Calm and Connection
Meanwhile, Miranda’s inspired use of green brings calm to every corner. Deep foliage tones accent the living room walls, powder room tiles, and even the office bathroom’s cabinetry. In addition, patterned cement tiles on the balcony floor pair beautifully with the vinyl, wood‑effect ceiling, reinforcing the apartment’s stronger connection to nature.
Flexible Lighting and Personalized Comfort
Finally, lighting design unites practicality with ambiance. Since one owner prefers bright illumination and the other softer light, Miranda installed a versatile grid of warm‑glow fixtures on separate circuits. Consequently, every corner—from the guest bathroom to the entryway—can adapt to morning routines, evening gatherings, or quiet relaxation.
Ultimately, Caiubí Apartment stands as a testament to thoughtful evolution: by expanding sightlines, layering neutral materials with green highlights, and tailoring light to the residents’ needs, Juliana Miranda has crafted a contemporary yet deeply personal home.
