The 26-year-old house is situated in the Anadolu Hisari district of Istanbul, famed for its Beauteous Castle, the oldest surviving example of an Ottoman architectural structure from which the storied and opulent neighborhoods takes its name. The 4-story MD house contains an expansive 850m2 of indoor space along with a 400m2 garden, providing an excellent canvas upon which Savatli could mold in line with his own unique style.
Merging seductive brasses, darkened hardwood flooring and textured matte Italian decorative surface finishes that incorporate various artisanal details and luxurious elements were curated by a sophisticated and refined style reflective of Savatli’s multi-layered sense of depth. The usage of such design features, along with a serene color palette, fuses to create an elegant and polished aesthetic while evoking a modern and masculine feeling about the residence.
In regards to the furnishings, Savatli carefully designed custom-tailored marble and brass tables, upholsteries made from finest leathers and rich fabrics, and hand-made silk & woven carpets. He uniquely designed and selected lighting fixtures made of solid and perforated natural bronze, marble and hand cut glass with a mix of refined and raw finishes to diffuse and reflect light throughout the spaces. The artworks, produced locally in Savatli’s workshop in Istanbul, provide the residence a warm expressive yet sophisticated color palette that resonates throughout every room.
