In the heart of Taipei City, the Soft Spots Apartment by AODA Design transforms a compact 33 m² into a serene and highly functional home. By blending raw materials with soft wood accents and clever layouts, the designers achieved a perfect balance of comfort and minimalism—proving that small spaces can feel both spacious and personal.
Welcoming Transition and Raw Ambiance
First, the entryway sets the tone for escape. Consequently, fair-faced concrete walls and polished concrete floors greet you with an immediate sense of calm. Moreover, a custom floral display stand—with an adjustable height—invites the homeowner to curate fresh bouquets daily. As a result, the threshold becomes more than an entry: it becomes a ritual space that gently separates city hustle from domestic tranquility.
Giraffe-Inspired Details and Material Harmony
Next, the apartment channels the homeowner’s love for giraffes into its design vocabulary. In particular, softwood veneer panels feature subtle, giraffe-patterned grooves that merge seamlessly with slender metal accents. Furthermore, these refined details reinforce the minimalist aesthetic without overwhelming the senses. Thus, every wall and surface feels both organic and elegantly tailored.
Dual Circulation and Zone Optimization
To maximize every square meter, AODA Design implemented a dual circulation plan. Consequently, two parallel pathways guide movement through the living, dining, and kitchen zones without dead ends. Meanwhile, a dedicated storage corridor discreetly tucks away shoes, seasonal clothing, and multimedia equipment. As a result, open areas remain uncluttered, and daily routines flow naturally—from morning coffee to evening relaxation.
