Located in the Pacific Northwest, these two island small cabins nestle into the natural landscape of this beautiful site. The project is comprised of the new construction of a small sleeping cabin and a complete remodel of an existing cabin.
Inside the Spine house, the concrete wall winds its way further down the narrow site towards the water, and forms itself into bathrooms, storage space and a fireplace. Gathered around this concrete spine, wooden volumes hover just above the ground.
The client inherited an unattractive “McMansion” with poor spatial layout from his father. The modern finnish house was designed to meet the tastes of the former generation. The site also featured a large pompous garden with extensive manicured lawns.
