The Olive Shade Apartment is a two-room residence located in the historical centre of the capital city Kyiv, Ukraine, which homeowners decided to place for a long-term renting. A landlord wanted us to create a vibrant atmosphere with a minimalistic interior, which would attract a young family and add value to a rental property.
Spacious flat of 85 sq. m. has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a laundry room. The hallway has lots of built-in storage space and leads to a living room. The main task for our design buro in this interior project was a proper space zoning – creation division between the living room and open plan kitchen.
The dominant colours of the interior design were picked in a calm natural palate: dusty olive, light grey and taupe. This colour mix works perfect with some light beige wooden finishes. Among other sustainable materials of the interior we also used cotton for upholstery, curtains, woollen tapestry and natural stone for floor covering in the bathroom.
In the living room we used a round mirror with a geometric pattern, which became a vibrant accent point of the space. This decore technique we also applied in the bedroom by using light grey wallpaper with repeating geometric patterns.
Other characteristics of the interior are simple and clear forms, laconic details. For lighting we used metal suspension and floor lamps by such Swedish design brands as NordLux, Markslojd.
Furniture (bed, dining table, chairs, coffee table, armchair, etc.) – Jysk, Ikea and a few Ukrainian furniture factories.
