Casa Paraiso by GAM Arquitetos was designed for a vibrant family that loves music, gatherings, and the joy of shared moments. Located in Bahia, Brazil, the residence reflects the spirit of its owner—an event professional involved in Carnaval—who envisioned a colorful, welcoming home ideal for entertaining. From the moment guests enter, the pool table at the entrance sets the mood: relaxed, playful, and full of energy.
A Home Designed for Connection
The project focused on creating large, fluid spaces that foster interaction. The social areas are fully integrated, ensuring smooth transitions between indoors and outdoors. Wide openings connect the house with the tropical landscape, allowing natural light and ventilation to flow through every space. This open design not only promotes comfort and togetherness but also strengthens the relationship between the architecture and the surrounding nature.
The L-shaped layout takes advantage of the corner lot, opening the house toward the east to capture both sunlight and garden views. A double-height ceiling enhances the sense of openness, while movable louvers regulate airflow and shade the interior. These features—hallmarks of GAM Arquitetos’ approach—create a home that feels simultaneously breezy, bright, and protective.
Inspiration and Architectural Concept
The guiding concept behind Casa Paraiso was flexibility. The architects sought a plan that could adapt easily—from intimate family evenings to lively social events. The living room, kitchen, and outdoor terrace form one continuous environment, encouraging conversation and movement. During parties, the house opens completely, connecting every space to the garden and pool area, while on quieter days, it remains cozy and intimate.
Natural Materials and Timeless Finishes
Material choices played a crucial role in shaping the home’s atmosphere. GAM Arquitetos prioritized natural, durable materials that harmonize with the tropical setting. Beige Bahia marble covers the floors and bathroom surfaces, lending a soft, luminous quality throughout. Walls in neutral tones provide a backdrop for colorful artworks and decorative objects chosen by the residents.
Wood and bamboo appear in ceilings, furniture, and headboards, introducing warmth and texture. In the kitchen, the Taj Mahal quartzite countertop adds refinement, while the bathrooms feature river pebbles that enhance the tactile experience. Together, these materials bring balance between elegance and simplicity, making Casa Paraiso timeless and low-maintenance—ideal for a beachside lifestyle.
A Celebration of Personal Expression
The interiors include unique personal touches that reflect the client’s character. The blue pool table stands at the center of the home’s social life, inviting friends to gather and share ideas. Its color, echoed in subtle details across the house, adds continuity and personality. Another standout piece is the canoe mounted on the wall—a symbolic and visual statement visible from both inside and outside. These curated details bring identity and emotion to the architecture, turning the house into a true reflection of its owners.
