This project represents a long collaboration between our team and an old friend of Best Practice (the designer of our company logo).
Mark Ashby Design and Furman + Keil Architects gives a traditional ranch home, circa 1954, an updated midcentury design. The home had undergone a previous remodel in 2001 that resulted in disjointed spaces, poor circulation, and awkwardly proportioned rooms.
With an owner’s vision for a refined retreat notable for fluid spaces and artful details, this centrally located Austin residence makes the most of its steeply sloped, leafy site in an established Austin neighborhood.
The Canterbury House is a compact urban home. It contains two bedrooms, a media room, and a fully detached guest suite in only 1680 square feet. The home’s form is inspired by traditional dog-trot houses
Rebel Road is a “ramp house” that is elevated and almost hovering above the lower level functions. We often refer this type of house in Texas as an upside down house.
