Houses, like people, have a unique essence that defines them. Each person who inhabits the house creates an emotional connection with it. “Granny Amparo’s house” was a clear example of this. Every January 6th, the house would change with the arrival of the Three Wise Men, filling it with magic, joy and family tradition.
The entrance was the place where people waited impatiently for grandma’s arrival. The rooms, always full of light and colour, were an oasis of tranquillity. The corridor would become the stage for a competitive race between cousins for gifts. The living-dining room was the centre of the celebration, where food and games would be enjoyed.
If the walls of the house could speak, they would tell the stories of those who lived there, making it a silent witness to the joys and sorrows of a family.
Although Amparo’s house is no longer the same, the new generations will create their own memories in it, making it a home full of stories and emotions.
Granny Amparo’s house, ‘The house of the three wise men’ is an example of how a house can be much more than just a physical space. It is the experiences lived there what turns it into a home.
