This listed crescent in Barnsbury, Islington, London was built in 1860. The project reconfigures a first floor flat within a building that was converted from a house in the 1970’s. This London flat was altered to provide an open plan kitchen in the living room, allowing the creation of an additional bedroom.
The narrow site, bounded on three sides by other buildings, contained a derelict perfume factory. As the client had affection for its industrial charms, we were keen to capture some of that aesthetic, with the expressed roof structure, reeded glass screens, painted brick and black-stained exterior weatherboarding …
New Cross Lofts consists of 2 bespoke lofts and 2 work studios designed by the team at Chan and Eayrs. The lofts are flooded with natural light, complemented further by the limed natural tones of the panelled interior and white washed walls.
