Located near the vibrant center of Yerevan, Armenia, Hambardzumyan Apartment by Studio Triniti is a meticulously designed 35 sqm studio apartment. Situated on the top floor of a 1970s building, the apartment offers a fully equipped kitchen, a multifunctional plywood structure that serves as a bedroom, office, and storage space, a living area, bathroom with a bathtub, and an entrance with incorporated laundry and wardrobe. It even boasts a balcony overlooking the bustling city, making it an ideal urban retreat.
Designed for Airbnb with Versatile Living in Mind
As the owner and architect, the goal was to create a flexible living space that could cater to a variety of tenants, from short-term guests to longer stays. The design choices—simple volumes, matte plywood for a natural touch, and terrazzo tiles to balance warmth—are intended to appeal to a wide range of tastes and lifestyles. Privacy is cleverly managed using matte glass dividing panels that not only functionally divide the space but also contribute to the apartment’s minimalist, modern aesthetic.
Space Optimization and Adaptive Solutions
Given the apartment’s small size, the design had to maximize openness while addressing the need for multiple functional areas. The apartment was originally in poor condition, with leaking roofs and outdated interiors. The renovation started by stripping away these old elements, allowing the existing layout and utility lines to guide the new design. What emerged is a multifunctional environment where each space seamlessly integrates into the other without feeling cramped.
The living area offers a cozy, practical setting, while the bedroom area is cleverly incorporated as a multifunctional box. The white kitchen blends into the walls, enhanced by mirrored surfaces that amplify the apartment’s brightness and sense of space. Even the bathroom is compact yet well-appointed, with ample storage and daily comfort features.
A Timeless and Adaptive Space
The Hambardzumyan Apartment strikes a balance between function and form, with each design detail thoughtfully considered to make the most of the available space. The result is a versatile, timeless home that adapts effortlessly to the needs of its residents, fostering comfort and a sense of belonging in a lively urban setting.
Through smart design strategies, the apartment becomes a dynamic living space, catering to diverse lifestyles without compromising on style or practicality.
