Mesura architecture studio has designed four apartments located in the heart of the Born district of Barcelona. Borne apartments are designed for tourists and belong to Decimonónico Group.
The Born is a lively and authentic neighborhood in Barcelona characterized by different population and the most diverse shops. It has a heterogeneous town planning, laid down by narrow streets with old modest houses and streets with old majestic palaces, which have been renovated as a consequence of the tourism demand in this particular district.
In the center of this neighborhood there is a small residential building with optimum characteristics to welcome a project for tourist apartments in one of its floors. MESURA has been commissioned to make a reform in the fourth floor of this building, and four apartments have been fitted out.
The objective is to strip the traces or remains from former unfortunate plans of action and recover its structural origins. For example, brick noggins, oak wood beams, and so on.
The design of the four apartments is based on a major premise: a clear separation between day and night zones, because the idea is the welcome of visitors as well as actual users in the common areas. Nevertheless, and according to the peculiar and heterogeneous personality of the environment, the four apartments are provided with a different character referring to materials and distribution.
This stylish apartment has 3 floor to ceiling windows with small balconies and features modern décor combined with original wooden beams and exposed stone walls. It has a bedroom with a double bed, a spacious living room with two single sofa beds, an open plan kitchen with dining area and a bathroom.
