The Pereira Narvaes house is located in Caxias, a mountainous region of southern Brazil. After the visit to the site of the project, it became evident the existence of an incredible view towards a “green wall”, a mountain with an almost vertical slope that would direct the project.
Situated at the apex of a natural sphere created by a convex cliff-lined bend in Lake Austin, the house welcomes one from the realm of suburban banality through a focused entry procession and into another world- one of verdant woods, rocky promontories, and meandering waterways.
Located within Woollahra Council’s Heritage Conservation Area, this residence is perched upon a 5m heritage sandstone wall that forms part of a large bushland setting. The Woollahra house has been designed as a structure that belongs to the park with its strong concrete block corner buttresses rising up from the existing sandstone base.
